| Planned Research Activities
The most recent version of the Research Plan
available at this time is a draft dated February 2000. At
that time, the Research Subcommittee had three research ideas,
two of which had one-page research plans written. The TC also
has a list of other ideas we intend to develop.
Research Plan
PRIORITY 1:
Energy Wheels: Frost Control and Standard 84
PRIORITY
2:
Air-to-Air Energy Recovery System Design Guideline and Short
Course
PRIORITY
3:
Energy efficient methodologies to provide ventilation for
a healthy indoor environment
The TC also has one draft work statement, which is not prioritized
on the Research Plan:
Please note that these research ideas may have been superseded
by more recent discussions in the Research Subcommittee.
The full TC brainstormed on research ideas at the Seattle
meeting, and identified several additional ideas. See the
Seattle minutes for a list.
Completed Research Projects
Here is a bibliography
of publications related to this TC's work, from
1997 to 2007.
Research Project 862-RP "Development of a Methodology
to Design and Predict the Part Load Performance of an Energy
Recovery Ventilator/Energy Recovery Device"
Sponsoring TC: 5.5
Research Institution: University of Saskatchewan
Principal Investigator: Professor R. W. Besant
Objectives:
- to propose field testing procedures for air-to-air energy
exchangers
- to monitor accurately the inlet and outlet properties
and calculate the performance of four different types of
air-to-air energy exchangers
- to analyze the collected data for errors or uncertainty
for each system
- to compare the results with theoretical results
- to correlate the results in a form useful to industry
- to report on the findings and write papers.
