ASHRAE Technical Committee 5.5 - Air-to-Air Energy Recovery

ACTIVITIES

TC 5.5 is concerned with air-to-air heat exchangers, their application and cost benefit relationship. It includes consideration of the needs and procedures for standardization and testing, rating and terminology applicable to air-to-air energy recovery. Our members offer their wide knowledge on these topics in many different Society activities, through various subcommittees.

The Committee sponsors Research Projects, which are a way to further knowledge in our field.

We provide valuable assistance in the writing and revision of the chapter in the Handbook for which we are responsible. The next edition of our chapter will appear as Chapter 44 in the 2004 edition of the HVAC Systems and Equipment handbook.

We often sponsor one or more Seminars at the Society National Meetings. This is a good opportunity to let others know what TC 5.5 is doing.

Finally, we are also involved with the writing and revision of standards. In particular, TC 5.5 has had a long history of involvement in Standard 84, "Method of Testing Air-to-Air Heat/Energy Exchangers."

The subcommittee meetings are where the action is, so don't miss them. They are a good way for TC members to become more closely involved with the activities of the committee.
